Doha: Major Mohammed Ali Dajran, Technical Inspection Officer at Wadi Al Banat Technical Vehicle Inspection Centre, said that the station daily receives 500 to 800 vehicles.

He also talked about allocating a mobile station for technical inspection in Al Ruwais, providing all services such as Istimara renewal service, transferring of vehicle ownership and many other services. The work days of the mobile inspection station are announced by Fahes. It serves the north and south areas.

Speaking to The Peninsula on the sidelines of the symposium organised on Saturday by the Media and Traffic Awareness Department of the General Directorate with people of the Constituency Number 2, he pointed out that the technical inspection station uses the latest technology regarding vehicles inspection.

Major Ali Dajran said that the vehicle inspection is not taking more than a few minutes and it serves many areas like Madinat Khalifa, Duhail, Dafna, The Pearl and other nearby areas.

About Al Mazroua Station (Fahes), which will be the largest technical inspection station in the country and receives both heavy and light vehicles, he said the opening will be soon this year without giving a specific time.

The station will provide technical inspection for both heavy and light vehicles and will have 16 inspection lines which would mainly serve trucks and heavy vehicles, therefore, they will no longer be required to enter Doha or Al Wakra for inspection purpose.

The inauguration of the new technical inspection stations comes within the framework of the Ministry of Interior’s directives to decentralise and provide services to citizens and residents in their locations.

About VIP services at Fahes stations, through which anyone can get inspection of their vehicles done within five minutes, Major Mohammed Ali Dajran said the VIP service is still under study. He also mentioned that the renewal of vehicle Istimara through the application of Metrash 2 and the renewal of insurance electronically contributed to the flow of traffic within the station.

The General Directorate of Traffic seized more than 5,000 vehicles escaping from technical inspection in the first three months of last year.
