Doha: Qatar’s Cherif Younousse and Ahmed Tijan yesterday stormed into the Elimination Round of the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Championships with an unbeaten record in the Pool Stage in Rome, Italy, yesterday.
The World No. 2 pair yesterday blanked their last Pool D opponents, Frenchmen Youssef Krou and Arnaud Gauthier-Rat with a 21-17, 21-16 score line to continue their emphatic run.

The victory lifted their points tally to six, one ahead of Taylor Sander and Taylor Crabb who also made it to the Round of 32 along with the Qatari pair.
Cherif and Tijan, the Tokyo Games bronze winners and former World no. 1, had beaten Sander and Crab (21-14, 21-15) and Paraguayans Gonzalo Melgarejo and Roger Daniel (21-13, 21-12) in their previous Pool D meetings.
The round of 32 will see the top two teams in each pool and the best four third-placed pairs as well as four lucky-losers who miss direct qualification.
