Asuncion, Paraguay: Qatar Football Association (QFA) has signed two cooperation agreements with South American Football Confederation (SAFC) and Argentine Football Association (AFA) on Saturday.
The two agreements were signed by QFA President Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Thani, along with the presidents of the two federations, on the sidelines of the SAFC General Assembly.
The QFA president expressed his pleasure at signing the two agreements, looking forward to further cooperation with the other federations in other continents in the same form and with the same content that emphasise the pivotal role of Qatari football at the international, continental and regional levels.
It is worth noting that the meeting of the SAFC General Assembly adopted the invitation of Qatar to participate in the Copa America 2019 in Brazil and the signing of a cooperation agreement with the QFA to exchange experiences in the fields of football development and the organization of competitions.
SAFC President Alejandro Domínguez said that the signing of the agreement with the QFA is in favour of football at all levels in the first place, and in the interest of both Qatari and South American sides in particular.
He hoped that the FIFA will respond to the demand of the South American confederations for raising the number of participants in the World Cup to 48 teams.
AFA President Claudio Tapia praised the great reputation of the Qatari football, especially after winning the hosting of 2022 World Cup, looking forward to the immediate implementation of the terms of the agreement for the benefit of both parties.
