Doha, Qatar: In an impressive sporting achievement, the team of the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs claimed the second place (runner-up) title in the 2025 Ministries and Authorities Futsal Championship, marking an outstanding debut in the competition organised by the Qatar Sports for All Federation under the umbrella of the Ministry of Sports and Youth.
The tournament witnessed intense competition among various government entities and institutions.
The Ministry’s team, supervised by the Department of Public Relations and Communication, delivered a stellar performance throughout the championship, showcasing skill, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
Their campaign began with a 1–0 victory over the Ministry of Interior, followed by a goalless draw with the Qatar Media Corporation. In the quarterfinals, the team displayed dominance with a 4–0 win against Ashghal (Public Works Authority). They continued their impressive run in the semifinals, defeating the Ministry of Municipality through a dramatic penalty shootout (2–1) to secure their spot in the final.
In the championship match, the Ministry’s team put up a spirited fight against the Ministry of Sports and Youth, ultimately finishing as runners-up.
The final match was attended by Undersecretary of the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs H E Dr. Sheikh Khalid bin Mohammed bin Ghanem Al Thani, along with several directors, officials, and employees who enthusiastically supported the team. He also took part in honouring the top four teams of the tournament.
Quoting the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him): “The strong believer is better and more beloved to Allah than the weak believer,” the Ministry affirmed that this message continues to inspire its efforts in promoting a culture of vitality, teamwork, and ethical conduct through sports.
