Doha, Qatar: The British Chamber of Commerce Qatar (BCCQ) brought together members of Qatar’s business community for a Business Breakfast with the Department for Business and Trade (DBT) at the British Embassy Doha, providing an opportunity for businesses to hear directly about the evolving UK-Qatar commercial relationship and the opportunities emerging across key sectors.
The UK and Qatar continue to maintain one of the closest partnerships in the Gulf, underpinned by shared interests including mutual investment, economic growth and regional stability. During the session, businesses heard of Qatar’s extensive investments in the UK totaling more than £40bn and spanning major industries and infrastructure. UK investment in Qatar is estimated at more than £6bn.
Bilateral trade in goods and services reached £6.2bn to the end of Q3 2025, with UK exports accounting for £4.8bn and Qatar’s exports to the UK representing £1.4bn. The breakfast also highlighted the significance of the UK-GCC Free Trade Agreement, which once agreed would create further opportunities for businesses across the UK and GCC Member States.
Speaking for the British Chamber of Commerce Qatar, Rupert Bastick, Vice-Chair said: “At BCCQ, we are committed to strengthening the relationship between the UK business community in Qatar, the British Embassy Doha and the Department for Business and Trade.
"Our role is to facilitate meaningful two-way dialogue, connecting our members with key representatives and creating opportunities to share insights, identify opportunities and address the issues that matter most to business." Bastick added.
