Doha, Qatar: The Public Works Authority, Ashghal has announced the installation of 4,061 debris traps to improve the performance and operational capacity of the stormwater drainage network, as part of ongoing efforts to enhance the management and maintenance efficiency of the country’s infrastructure assets.

The installation forms part of routine maintenance works aimed at protecting the drainage network by capturing sand, leaves and waste, helping to prevent underground pipe blockages and reduce the risk of water accumulation and flooding during heavy rainfall.

The Authority in a social media post noted that the debris traps feature a user-friendly design that allows for easy removal and cleaning without specialised equipment, supporting sustainable maintenance and ensuring the continued operational efficiency of the drainage infrastructure.

Ashghal said the works are part of its continuous efforts to maintain infrastructure efficiency and develop and sustain public utility assets across the country, while safeguarding the performance of the stormwater drainage network.
