Doha: Falah Al Shaqab of Al Shaqab and La Salalah of Al Wajba Stud were declared as the champion Senior Stallion and champion Senior Mare respectively on the fourth and final day of the 2nd Doha International Arabian Horse Show organised by Qatar Racing & Equestrian Club (QREC) and which concluded at the Longines Arena of Al Shaqab, Member Qatar Foundation, on Wednesday.
Among the other top winners were Ash’al Ale’Zz of Ale’Zz of Al Thamer Stud (Gold in Junior Colts category); Najma Al Saif owned by Muhammad Ibrahim Al Saif of Saudi Arabia (Gold in Junior Fillies category); D Hayel of Al Thamer Stud (Gold in Yearling Colts category); and Loaloat Nudrah owned by Omar Ali Aljasir of Saudi Arabia (Gold in Yearling Fillies category).
The ECAHO (European Conference of Arab Horse Organizations) B International Show attracted more than two hundred top Arabian horses from all over the region and including Qatar, United Arab Emirates and Qatar were entered in the various classes of the competitions held from January 8-11, 2023.
The international judges’ team included Birch Peter (Denmark), Guibert Xavier (France), Faraj Elyas Ebrahim (Bahrain), Scanzi Fausto (Italy), Valette Christine (France), McCrea Bruce (USA), Jadaan Basil (Syria), Den Hartog Robbie (Netherlands), and Tarczynski Tomasz (Poland).
The directors of ceremonies were Hashemian Seyed Ali of Iran and Van Dun Ils of Belgium. Dr. Sadd Ayman of Egypt was the ringmaster.
Horses are judged based on their beautiful mane and ‘skirt’ at the tails, impressive eyes, fluid body movement, grace, and impressive neck.
While the mares should have good balance, poise and beauty, the stallions must have defined body structure, strength and type.
