Doha: Al-Tala'a championship semi-finals were conducted on Thursday morning within the 14th edition of the Qatar International Falconry and Hunting Festival (Marmi) 2023 festival.
Held under the patronage of HE Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al-Thani and organized by Al Gannas Association, the festival will run until January 28.
Meanwhile, four falconers were qualified for Haddad Al Tahadi finals, while the organizing committee of Marmi 2023 festival announced the finals will be held on Saturday morning, January 14.
Chairman of Al Talaa Committee Muhammad bin Mubarak Al Ali said that the contests for the semi-finals were held among 24 falconers out of the 220 who have participated in the finals, pointing out that such round is more powerful than the finals.
In parallel, Hudud Al Tahaddi challenge contests for Group E were conducted on Thursday morning after they were previously deferred due to rains that pervaded a number of regions across the country.
By holding the competitions of Groups E and J, the number of qualifiers for the finals rose to 42 winners.
For his part, deputy head of Haddad Al Tahadi Committee Shawi Al Kaabi underscored the importance of Marmi 2023 festival in preserving the legacy of falconers and transferring it from ancestors to fathers and sons generation after generation.
Commenting on the reason behind the upsurge in the number of qualifiers and winners in Haddad Al Tahadi, Al Kaabi said that this is because falconers were early ready to compete in the championship and are aware of the geography.
