Reuven clinches hat-trick of titles

Doha: Reuven John Jithu of NVBS won the U-15, 17 and 19 singles titles in the recently concluded YAAS Qatar Open Badminton Championship Season 2 held at Palestine School, Doha. 

Out of 22 kids categories, NVBS players grabbed 15 wins as they clinched the Kids Overall title with eight championships and seven runner-up titles. 

In the senior category, Dharshana Haridas and Kiral Balaji of NVBS won the women’s singles and the men’s open singles titles respectively.

All finalists in the U-9 girls and boys singles, U-15 boys and U-17 girls singles were NVBS players, marking one of the best ever overall achievements  of the Academy.

"Our shuttlers are gearing up to take part in upcoming national tournaments, State Championship in Kerala and the District Championship," said Head Coach Manoj Sahibjan. 

"Also we are in a discussion with Maldives Badminton Association President Moosa Nashid regarding the participation in  the Open Badminton tournament in Maldives after FIFA World Cup 2022," Manoj added.

The chief guests of the closing ceremony were Advocate Jaffarkhan, Chairman - YAAS Qatar, Vinod Nair, President ICBF and Raymon Bastin, Marketing Manager - Nova Healthcare.
