Doha:  The Qatar Primary Schools Chess Competition, organised by the Qatar School Sports Association (QSSA) and Qatar Chess Association (QSA), will be held from April 15-16 at the Jawaan Bin Jassim Model Independent School for Boys.

The tournament will be open for all primary schools in the country and there will be no entry fee for the participants.

The competition for girls will be held on the opening day of the tournament, starting at 8:30am while the boys’ event will take place on the following day, within the same time frame.

All participating teams will have to accompany a supervisor in-charge of the players for the whole duration of the competition.

The competitions will consist of six or seven rounds depending on the number of participating schools, and will be conducted according to the Swiss System, with 10 minutes allocated for each player per game.

Trophies and medals will be awarded to the top three players in each category as well as the top three schools teams.

Schools can include up to four members in each team and the minimum number of players per team is two.

Registrations will close on Sunday, April 13 at 12:30am and late applicants will not be entertained.
