Doha: Ambassador Brazil to Qatar, H E Luiz Alberto Figueiredo Machado, affirmed the deep relations and bonds of friendship between the State of Qatar and his country and their consolidation and continuous development.
In statement to QNA on the occasion of Qatar National Day (QND), H E referred to the two visits paid by resident of the Federative Republic of Brazil H E Jair Bolsonaro, to the State of Qatar in 2019 and 2021, and the great progress that resulted from the two visits in many areas of bilateral cooperation, with a focus on trade, investment and tourism.
His Excellency stated: “Since I arrived in Doha in January 2020, I have been able to witness how Qatar is building a modern country, according to a vision of the future based on sustainable development and investment in science and technology. As I wish the State of Qatar and the Qatari people peace and prosperity, I bear in mind the bonds of friendship that unite our countries and the successful bilateral cooperation we have undertaken in the most diverse fields.”
The Ambassador congratulate H H the Amir, the government and the Qatari people on the National Day, noting that this year’s celebrations reflect the culture, history and traditions of this wonderful country to the whole world.
Regarding the State's response to the COVID-19 pandemic, he said: “Despite the negative consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic throughout the world, Qatar has shown a remarkable degree of flexibility and economic resilience during the crisis. It is noteworthy that efforts to stimulate domestic production of key foodstuffs carried out during the previous period paid dividends during the pandemic. For 2022, the recovery of energy markets worldwide, the new investments for exploration of North Field as well as the modernization of Qatar’s fleet for transporting LNG seem to indicate the resumption of economic growth on a solid foundation.”
On the country’s preparations to host FIFA World Cup 2022, HE Luiz Alberto affirmed that the Preparations have been impressive, with good investments being made to build stadiums and establish adequate infrastructure to receive tourists, noting that many thousands of Brazilian supporters are looking forward to coming to Qatar for the World Cup in 2022, when they will be greeted, as I was, by the hospitality, warmth and generosity of the Qatari people.
