As part of its Ramadan giving campaign, Vodafone Qatar has donated QR140,000 to Qatar Charity, which will go towards its food baskets programme helping those in need during Ramadan. Hundreds of people have been taking part in Vodafone Qatar’s Ramadan giving campaign by participating in daily challenges and quizzes on its new “Sawa” online engagement platform.

Every 100 points collected through Vodafone “Sawa” are equivalent to a QR1 donation, which goes towards supporting a local charity initiative each week. Khames Al Naimi, Chief Human Resources Officer, Vodafone Qatar said: “As part of our social responsibility, it’s important for us to support charitable work, especially during this holy month.

This comes through supporting our long-term partner Qatar Charity, and to be there for people in need this Ramadan, a time for giving and togetherness. We thank everyone who participated on our “Sawa” platform to help us reach our goal this week.

We still have more chances to do good together, and we hope more people will join in and be part of our campaign.” Mohamed Rashid Al Kaabi, Assistant to the CEO in the Communication and Resource Development at Qatar Charity, thanked Vodafone Qatar for its support of Qatar Charity’s Ramadan campaign, and said: “With this generous contribution from Vodafone Qatar, we will be able to reach more low-income families and workers who cannot meet their daily nutritional needs during the holy month, especially in light of the coronavirus pandemic that has affected their living conditions.”

Vodafone Qatar will be donating to different charity initiatives throughout the month of Ramadan, and next week’s beneficiary will be Qatar Red Crescent Society. The Company is using its digital savvy to make the public a part of supporting these charity initiatives. The more points earned by playing on Sawa, the faster Vodafone gets to its charity donation goal each week.

Every participant will also get the chance to win prizes, with the top three weekly winners picked and awarded at the end of the month of Ramadan. One final winner with the highest score at the end of the competition will win the grand prize of QR25,000, which will also be announced at the end of Ramadan.
