Iraq defeated Oman 2-0
Doha, Qatar: The United Arab Emirates stayed perfect in Group B of the Arabian Gulf Cup Football Federation (AGCFF) U-23 Gulf Cup with a 3-1 comeback win over Yemen at Aspire Academy yesterday.
Yemen struck first at the end of the opening half through Nasser Mohammed, who sent his side into the break with a 1-0 lead.
The UAE responded strongly after the restart.
Ali Mohammed Saeed levelled in the 57th minute, before Mansour Saleh put the Emirati side ahead in the 63rd minute. Hazem Mohammed sealed the victory in stoppage time to make it 3-1 and keep UAE firmly in control of the group.
In the other Group B fixture, Iraq defeated Oman 2-0 at the same venue. Amouri Faisal opened the scoring from the penalty spot in the 50th minute, and Ayman Luay added the second in the 82nd minute to secure Iraq’s first win in the tournament.
After the second round of matches, UAE are leading Group B with 6 points. Iraq are second with 3 points. Yemen also have 3 points but trail Iraq on head-to-head or goal difference, while Oman remain bottom without a point.
