Muftah of Khan Youngsters
DOHA: Muftah plucked a hat-trick and fired Khan Youngsters to a seven-wicket triumph over Gulf Contracting Company in the Ramadan Cup Twenty20 Cricket Tournament, organised by the Qatar Cricket Association.
Batting first in a B and C Divisions match at the Asian Town Cricket Stadium, Gulf Contracting collapsed at 110 in 17 overs, failing to recover from the triple strike by Muftah.
In his very second over, left-arm fast bowler man of the match Muftah first removed Sasnur for one and then sent back Dinesh and Alam for ducks to have the rivals struggling at 13 for three.
Pujari, who struck three sixes and two fours in 39, and Sudesh (20 in 25 balls with two fours), held the middle-order together for some time and helped the team move into three figures.
Jeevan cracked a six and two fours to make run-a-ball 16. Apart from Muftah, who finished with three for 31, Ibrahim and Obaid got two each.
Shahzad launched an onslaught on the Gulf Contracting bowlers, hammering four sixes and half a dozen fours to compile 50 in just 24 balls. Mujtaba (19 with three fours) and Adnan (16 with four boundaries) enabled Khan Youngsters to wrap up the match in 8.2 overs.
In another match from the same category, man of the match Gul Hayat inspired a 13-run victory for Khyber Club against Masters Club. Chasing a fighting 148-run target, Hayat struck three blows for 28, while Waqas and Nouman picked one each to restrict them at 134 for five in 18 overs.
Omar Swadi made 33 with a six and four boundaries and Khadeer got 32, including three sixes. Ali chipped in with 26 in 36 deliveries.
Earlier, Ishtiaq and Murad set the tempo for Khyber Club’s 147 all out. Ishtiaq hit two sixes in 18-ball 25, while Murad smashed a couple of sixes and a four in 23. Nouman and Rahman added 19 each to consolidate their team further. Khadeer, Talha and Omer shared six scalps.
