Bangkok: The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) appointed 62 match officials, including six Qatari referees for the upcoming AFC U-23 Championship Thailand 2020, scheduled to kick off on Wednesday.
Iraq will take on Australia before hosts Thailand lock horns with debutants Bahrain on the opening day.
The Qatari officials appointed by the AFC includes four referees - Abdullah Ali Al Marri, Abdulrahman Al Jassim, Khamees Mohammed Al Kuwari and Khamees Mohamed Al Marri besides two assistant referees - Saud Ahmed and Salim Al Marri.
Each referee will be accompanied by two assistant referees, and receive support from the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) system, which is set to make its full tournament debut across all three cities in Thailand - Bangkok, Songkhla and Buriram, said the AFC on its website.
The referees will be playing various roles throughout the tournament that includes VAR and Assistant VAR appointments.
