Qatar National Sprint: Chebli and Ziade bag victories in Round 4

Doha: Lebanese driver Mansour Chebli topped the Open Class 1 while Qatar’s Nadim Ziade won the Production Class 1 in the fourth round of the 2022 Qatar National Sprint, organised by the Qatar Motor & Motorcycle Federation (QMMF), on Friday. 

Driving a Renault Clio, Chebli won his event in 1:11.609 while Ziade (1:18.681) and Jad Alawar (1:33.363) finished in second and third positions respectively. Alawar then went on to win the O2 class in his Mitsubishi Evo 8 (1:09.403), marking the fastest lap time of the fourth round of the popular event. Amro Abdulla came second in 1:12.081 while Abdul Al Hajjar completed the podium with a time of 1:18.243.

Ziade won the Renalut Clio Production Class after clocking his fastest time on his second attempt, registering a time of 1:12.892. Chebli came second in (1:13.664) while Qatar’s Hanibaal Eid booked his podium finish in 1:15.174.

Qatar’s Maher Serre emerged at the top of the P2 Class in his Porsche Cayman GTS, clocking a time of 1:10.640. Aleksandar Jokic, also driving a Porsche Cayman GTS, was second in 1:13.796 while Alawar booked his third podium spot of the day with a time of 1:14.072.

Class P3 was won by Francesco Fornaciari (1:12.208) while Hassan Ali Abbasi and Abdulla Ali Al Abbasi came second and third respectively in their Lotus Exige cars. Paige De Jager won the women’s event in 1:22.079. The next round of the six-leg competition will take place on October 8.
