U.S. dollar ticks down

NEW YORK: The U.S. dollar weakened in late trading on Wednesday.

The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, decreased by 0.08 percent to 99.595 at 3 p.m. (1900 GMT).

In late New York trading, the euro fell to 1.1586 dollars from 1.1590 U.S. dollars in the previous session, and the British pound dropped to 1.3487 dollars from 1.3514 dollars in the previous session.

The U.S. dollar bought 158.94 Japanese yen, lower than 160.20 Japanese yen of the previous session. The U.S. dollar climbed to 0.8133 Swiss francs from 0.8118

Swiss francs, and it decreased to 1.3841 Canadian dollars from 1.3894 Canadian dollars. The U.S. dollar rose to 9.6250 Swedish kronor from 9.6188 Swedish kronor.
