Amir, Congo President review regional and international developments

Doha, Qatar: The Amir His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani reviewed with His Excellency Felix Tshisekedi, President of the Democratic Republic of Congo, the developments in regional and international situations, during a meeting held at Lusail Palace today, April 2, 2026.

President Tshisekedi expressed his country’s solidarity with the State of Qatar, following the continued Iranian aggression against the country and others in the region, and his support for the measures taken by Qatar to protect its sovereignty, security and the safety of its citizens.For his part, His Highness the Amir welcomed His Excellency the President and the accompanying delegation, and expressed his thanks and appreciation for the position and solidarity of the Democratic Republic of Congo, praising the growing cooperation relations between the two countries.

Both sides affirmed their commitment to supporting security and stability in the region. They also reviewed bilateral cooperation relations between the two countries and ways to support and develop them in various fields, especially the economy and investment.The meeting was attended by HE Abdullah bin Mohammed Al-Khulaifi, Head of the Amiri Diwan, HE Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulaziz Al-Khulaifi, Minister of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and a number of Their Excellencies senior officials.

Also present from the Democratic Republic of Congo were His Excellency Sumbu Mambu Sita, the Personal Representative of His Excellency the President, HE Jean Claude Kabongo, the Special Advisor to His Excellency the President, and a number of Their Excellencies senior officials.His Highness the Amir and His Excellency the President held a bilateral meeting, during which they exchanged views on the most prominent issues of common interest.
