Qatar juniors get set for England clash in Toulon

TOULON, France: Qatar will take on England today in their third clash at the Toulon International Championship.
Qatar, who lost to Mexico in their opening clash, produced a fighting 1-1 draw against China in the second game on Tuesday.
Qatar is using the eight-team event to prepare the national juniors for this year’s AFC U-19 Asian Cup to be held in Indonesia in October.
After their 1-1 draw against China, coach Bruno Miguel said Qatar’s participation in the Toulon event is aimed at ‘improving the level of our team in preparation for the 2018 AFC U-19 Asian Cup’.
Qatar conceded a penalty in injury time as China managed an equaliser just seconds before the final whistle,
Miguel expressed his happiness over the performance of the players against China.
The coach pointed out the Qatar team in Toulon is under 19 whereas the Chinese team is fielding a squad which under-21.
The coach also said he is expecting a tough fight against England.
The top three teams at the AFC U-19 Asian Cup in Indonesia (October 18 to November 4) will qualify for the FIFA U-20 World Cup to be held in Poland next year.
Qatar won the 2014 edition of the AFC U-19 Asian Cup held in Myanmar to qualify for the 2015 FIFA U-20 World Cup which was held in New Zealand.
