Students are back in school after the break during the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022. Qatar as a country has given high priority to its education sector as it wants to carve out a knowledge-based economy. It has allocated resources to create many quality institutions for its younger generation. In the 2023 fiscal budget, the government has increased the allocation to QR18.1bn for the education sector, which is nearly 9% of the total expenses. The efforts start from primary school and go all the way up to higher education institutes. The various institutes under the Qatar Foundation and the numerous colleges of Qatar University show how much importance Qatar gives to education.
Qatar has also invested a lot in schools to create a generation of highly skilled and knowledgeable youngsters who will excel in their chosen fields and will lead the industries and the state in the future.
The Ministry of Education and Higher Education is launching many more initiatives to help the students to further improve their quality of education as part of the strategic plan of 2023-30. This will enhance the performance of the students in all grades - primary, preparatory and secondary.
The visit of Minister of Education and Higher Education H E Buthaina bint Ali Al Jabr Al Nuaimi’s visit to different schools and as students returned to schools for the second semester of the academic year 2022-2023 showed how much importance Qatar gives to education and its future generation. The second strategy, which will come to an end in December 2022, gave top priority to instilling national identity, Islamic and local culture among students and as per Ministry’s new strategy, which will come into force next year, the move will continue following Qatar National Vision 2030.
Qatar not only provides the best education for its students domestically, but it also helps them pursue further education in various fields from renowned international universities by providing scholarships. At a recent function, while addressing the students, the minister said that it is an opportunity to interact and learn about different cultures and help create independent personalities able to serve their country. “You are Qatar’s human capital, and you are its future knowledge force, and the State counts on you to achieve the goals and objectives of the Qatar National Vision 2030, and the country has overcome all difficulties for you to move towards broad horizons, to receive useful knowledge that will benefit the country,” the Minister told the students.
In the future, a country will prosper only when it has the capacity for cutting-edge research and access to highly skilled people. Qatar is doing the right thing by investing heavily in its education sector.
