RAF officials interact with representatives of local Islamic organisation at a distribution centre for copies of the Holy Quran in Tanzania.
Sheikh Thani bin Abdullah Foundation for Humanitarian Services (RAF) has dedicated today’s radio programme “Abwab Al Rahama” for collecting donations to support Syrian displaced and refugees.
The programme, which in English means 'Doors for Mercy', is being organised by RAF in collaboration with the Radio for the Holy Quran to raise fund for “winter mercy” campaign.
The programme will be broadcast by 8pm today. Ambassadors of the mercy who visited refugee camps in Turkey and Jordan accommodating hapless Syrian families will participate in the programme to give the audience first-hand information about the situation on the ground.
The campaign “Shita Al Rahma” (mercy of winter) aims at providing humanitarian aid and other basic needs to 120,000 people affected by wars in Syria and Iraq during the upcoming winter season.
The campaign is meant to collect QR19m in donations from people in Qatar to buy food, clothing, medicines and shelters for the Iraqi and Syrian internally displaced and those refugees sheltering in neighbouring countries.
RAF launched the campaign this time to prepare for dispatching aid to people fighting for survival in Syria and Iraq in winter,
“We started communicating with companies and individuals in the country seeking donations for the project to meet the requirements and early preparation to tackle the crises on time”, said Ahmad Yusuf Al Fakhro, Head of Financial Resources and Media Department at RAF.
Meanwhile, RAF has printed and distributed additional 80,000 copies of Holy Quran to the centres for learnin g Holy Quran Islamic schools and institutions in Tanzania.
It is a part of ‘Tibyan’ project launched by RAF to print and distribute one million copies around the world at a cost of QR10m.
So far, more than 760,000 copies of Holy Quran, about 75 percent of the targeted project have been printed and distributed.
The project is financed by Qatari philanthropists.
Through the project, RAF is keen to meet the needs of Muslims around the world and has targeted 50 countries across the world, especially in Africa, Asia and Europe.
RAF accomplished the first phase of the project by printing and distributing 505,000 copies in Africa, Asia and America — 40,000 each in Mauritania, Kenya, Senegal, Gambia and Uganda; 80,000 each in Niger and Tanzania; 120,000 in Sierra Leone; and 25,000 in Mali.
