The Ministry of Interior has won the best intelligence and operational cooperation award at Arab, regional and international levels.
This was announced during the 30th conference of chiefs of anti-narcotics agencies in Arab countries held at the headquarters of the General Secretariat of the Council of Arab Interior Ministers in Tunisia on October 27 and 28, 2016. The meeting was attended by dignitaries including delegates of Arab Interior Ministries, Arab Universities, United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, Interpol, Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf, Hemaya, Europol and Naif Arab University for Security Sciences.
The Qatari delegation was headed by Brigadier Amr Ali Al Homaidi, Assistant Director of Drugs Enforcement Administration. He received the award from Dr Muhammad bin Ali Kouman, the Secretary General of the Arab Interior Ministers Council.
This award was achieved as a result of distinguished efforts of DEA and its constant collaboration with different drugs combating agencies operating at regional and international level. These efforts have resulted in great success in seizure of a large number of narcotics as well as control over many smuggling networks. Pointing to this achievement, Brigadier Ahmad Khalifa Al Kowari, Director of Drugs Enforcement Administration at the Ministry of Interior, said that the Qatar Ministry of Interior received this prize for the second year in a row which marked the great efforts by the DCA personnel with the relevant agencies in neighbouring countries.
The two-day conference held discussions on many important issues related to drugs including international developments in illegal drug trade.
