Qatar Exchange index edges up

DOHA:  Qatar Exchange (QE) index gained 8.48 points or 0.08 percent to close at 10,371.17 points yesterday compared to 10,362.69 on Wednesday. On the weekly basis, the index lost 67.28 points or 0.64 percent.
Trading value last week increased by 7.65 percent to reach QR970.79m compared to QR 901.81m on a week ended on October 20. Trading volume increased by 28.34 percent to reach 29 million shares, as against 22.7 million shares, while the number of transactions fell by 5.38 percent, to reach 12,144 transactions as compared to 12,835 transactions.
Market capitalisation fell by 0.71 percent to reach QR 558.57bn as compared to QR 562.55bn at the end of previous week. Industries sector led traded value last week accounted for 40.5 percent of the total traded value. Banking and Financial Services sector accounted for 32.58 percent. Telecoms sector accounted for 9.34 percent and Real Estate sector accounted for 7.39 percent.
Industries sector led traded volume last week with 28.84 percent of the total traded volume. Banking and Financial Services sector accounted for 28.21 percent. Telecoms sector accounted for 24.78 percent and Real Estate sector accounted 12.26 percent.
Banking and Financial Services sector led traded number of transactions last week accounted for 32.38 percent of the total number of transactions. Industries sector accounted for 23.88 percent. Real Estate sector accounted for 14.33 percent and Telecoms sector accounted for 11.18 percent.
Of the 44 companies listed, 15 ended last week higher, while 27 fell and two remained unchanged.
Qatari Investors Group led trading value last week and accounted for 24.76 percent of the total traded value. Masraf Al Rayan accounted for 9.74 percent and QNB accounted for 9.70 percent.
Yesterday, the volume of shares traded increased to 8 million from 6 million on Wednesday. The value of shares also increased to QR230m from QR186m on Wednesday.  Of the 44 companies listed on QSE, shares of 42 saw trading yesterday. Of these 14 gained, 24 closed lower while four remained unchanged.
Indices of six sectors ended in red and remained one sector ended green today. QSE Total Return Index gained 0.08 percent to 16,779.87 points. QSE Al Rayan Islamic Index added 0.54 percent to 3,858.73 points and QSE All Share Index down to 0.09 percent to 2,859.93 points.
