Doha, Qatar: A youth dialogue titled “Jobs as a Driver of Growth, Opportunity, and Stability” was held in Doha.
The event was organised through a collaborative partnership involving QatarDebate—founded by Qatar Foundation—Georgetown University in Qatar, the World Bank Group, and Education Above All Foundation.
The dialogue was held with the participation of President of the World Bank Group, Ajay Banga and was attended by a distinguished group of students, academics, and stakeholders concerned with development affairs.
During the session, Banga stressed that job creation is among the most pressing priorities in the global economy, noting that the provision of sustainable employment opportunities constitutes a fundamental pillar for achieving growth and stability.
He also highlighted the importance of empowering young people by equipping them with relevant skills and education, as well as expanding access to economic opportunities, to address labour market challenges and ensure more inclusive and resilient growth.
He further noted that the World Bank Group continues to support countries in this area through the promotion of inclusive economic policies, investment in human capital, support for education and training, capacity building, as well as the financing of development projects and the provision of technical and advisory support.
In this context, Dean of Georgetown University in Qatar, Dr. Safwan Masri stated in his opening remarks that the University plays an important role in promoting intellectual dialogue, linking academic research to real-world development challenges, and empowering youth to actively engage in international discussions on the future of work and economic opportunities.
The dialogue was moderated by QatarDebate Ambassador and a student at Georgetown University in Qatar Moza Al-Hajri. The session witnessed strong engagement from participants, with in-depth discussions on youth-led solutions and the importance of multi-sector collaboration.
The session concluded with closing remarks delivered by Chief Executive Officer for Economic Empowerment at Education Above All Foundation, Mana Mohammed Al-Ansari.
