Lycée Franco-Qatarien Voltaire School held an annual  ‘Open House Event’ for parents and students yesterday at Al Waab branch to provide needful information to parents and students.

Open house event included school tour, meeting with staff and understanding the curriculum with Director of School. More than fifty parents attended the event and few of them registered their kids immediately.

Talking to The Peninsula, Bertrand Leuranguer, Director of Lycée Franco-Qatarien Voltaire Al Waab branch said: “The project of this school is one of its kind, the school teaches students three languages English, French and Arabic.

The aim of the school is to make students talk in three different languages fluently by graduating from high-school. Our specialised teachers teach students these three languages in primary classes. We accept all nationalities, currently we have 47 different nationalities at school.”  As many as 30 percent school’s students are Qataris, 30 percent are French and the rest belong to different countries. The school is keen to teach students arts, sports and well-being.

“Parents are very interested in such ‘Open House Events’, they visit the school to explore the infrastructure and facilities we provide. They get introduced to the curricula, matching those of the French Ministry of National Education following the high standards of the French educational system,” Bertrand added.

The School places a strong emphasis on teaching the Arabic language and the Qatari culture. It offers a tri-lingual teaching environment (French, English, Arab).

Talking about the staff, he said: “Most of the teaching staff of the school is composed of French teachers accredited and employed by the French Ministry of National Education. Arabic teaching, as for it, is delivered by Arab teachers who are native Arabic speakers.

The headmaster and the chief accountant are civil servants from the Ministry of National Education France.”
