Doha, Qatar: Under the directives of the Amir HH Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the State of Qatar announced the provision of development and humanitarian support to the sisterly Lebanese Republic, with a total value of USD 434,248,000, benefiting more than 1.5 million people, through the Qatar Fund for Development and in coordination with the relevant Lebanese authorities.
The support includes a contribution of up to USD 400 million to support the energy sector, of which 10% has been allocated as a grant. It further extends to several vital sectors, including education through the provision of scholarships, strengthening the capacities of the Lebanese Armed Forces through the provision of vehicles and equipment, in addition to supporting the sports sector contributing to youth empowerment.
On this occasion, HE Dr. Maryam bint Ali bin Nasser Al-Misnad, Minister of State for International Cooperation and Vice Chairperson of the Board of Directors of QFFD, stated: “This support reflects the State of Qatar’s commitment to standing in solidarity with the brotherly Lebanese people and supporting their resilience, while fulfilling its humanitarian and development responsibilities toward brotherly nations and reinforcing the foundations of stability, peace and sustainable development.”
These efforts come within the framework of the deep-rooted fraternal partnership between the State of Qatar and the Republic of Lebanon, and Qatar’s commitment supporting vital sectors and enhancing the resilience and capacity of local communities to respond to current economic and social challenges, thereby strengthening stability and supporting recovery and long-term sustainable development.
