UBERLANDIA (Brazil) : Qatar's handball junior team defeated Portugal on Sunday 26-20 in Group B of the Junior Handball World Cup.
Qatar now has six points after defeating Spain in the first round. They lost against Romania before beating Angola then Portugal to qualify for the final 16.
A number of players of the Qatari team took part in the 2015 World Cup, held in Doha, where the team reached the final. Ever since participating in the Juniors world Cup in 1995, Qatar's highest ranking was 12th.
