London: A car rammed into a crowd in Liverpool city center on Monday during celebrations marking Liverpool Football Club's Premier League victory. The vehicle was quickly stopped at the scene, and a male suspect has been taken into custody.
In a statement, a Merseyside Police spokesperson confirmed that they were contacted right after 6 p.m. following reports that a car had been in collision with several pedestrians on Water Street.
North West Ambulance Service said it is still assessing the situation and working to ensure people get necessary medical help.
"The scenes in Liverpool are appalling -- my thoughts are with all those injured or affected," British Prime Minister Keir Starmer said in a statement following the incident.
