Doha, Qatar: Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs H E Ghanem bin Shaheen bin Ghanem Al Ghanim has attended the final public stage of the full Quran memorization category of the 30th Sheikh Jassim bin Mohammed bin Thani Holy Quran Competition.

The concluding rounds were held at Imam Muhammad ibn Abdulwahhab Mosque, before a live audience and an international panel of judges.

Chair of the Organizing Committee at the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs MalAllah Abdulrahman Al Jaber, explained that the final assessments in the full Quran branch were conducted openly to ensure transparency and to allow the public to witness the performance of distinguished memorizers.

The international judging panel featured some of the leading Quran scholars from across the Islamic world, who evaluated contestants based on strict criteria measuring memorization accuracy, tajweed, and overall performance.

Al Jaber highlighted that hosting the competition within the spiritual atmosphere of Imam Muhammad ibn Abdulwahhab Mosque reflects the Prophet’s saying: “No people gather in one of the houses of Allah, reciting the Book of Allah and studying it together, except that tranquility descends upon them, mercy envelops them, the angels surround them, and Allah mentions them to those near Him.”

He added that making the final stage public is a fundamental objective of this category, providing the audience with an opportunity to benefit from the exemplary recitation of the participants. To maximize accessibility, the final rounds were broadcast live on Qatar TV’s Channel 2, on Quran Radio, and through the Ministry’s social media platforms.

Al Jaber affirmed that the Sheikh Jassim Competition has, by the grace of Allah, successfully fulfilled its mission of nurturing a spirit of excellence among both Qatari and resident Quran memorizers—male and female—while strengthening the connection of younger generations with the Holy Quran. This aligns with the State of Qatar’s commitment to honoring the Quran and its people.

The competition concluded yesterday, with the final round for the category of elite resident memorizers held in the evening session. The finalists were Mahmoud Suleiman Al-Mabruk Idris (Libya), Hamza Al-Habashi (USA), Magdy Abdullah Salem Ahmed (Egypt), Mohammed Abdu Ahmed Qassem (Yemen), and Rasheed Abdulrahman Al-Alani (Tunisia).

The Sheikh Jassim Holy Quran Competition is distinguished by its unique encouragement of recitation across multiple canonical modes (qirā’āt). Unlike other international competitions, participants who win in the full Quran category with one riwayah must compete the following year using a different riwayah.
