In its endeavor to develop global citizenry Birla Public School launched its new project ‘Think Globally Work Locally’ on January 19, in the B K Birla Auditorium.
The project aims at imbibing the spirit of global brotherhood and to help the students realize their responsibility to make this world a better living place.
To launch the program the Sustainable Development Goals Agenda 2030 adopted at the World Summit of United Nations was introduced.
This project aims at introducing the SDGs to all the schools in Doha and work in collaboration to create awareness and to contribute for the cause of humanity. The school has plans to organize Inter-School competitions, a Conclave and a Youth conference in collaboration with UNO and UNICEF with the moto to involve youths and inspire them to contribute into this global venture. All the schools in Doha very soon will get an official invitation for the same.
On the occasion Principal A P Sharma expressed that the spirit of ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’ should always be remembered and should be imbibed in the students. He congratulated the students and staff for being one amongst a few schools in the world to contribute for SDGs in collaboration with United Nations Organization.
Rekha George HOD of Social Science department introduced the program, a beautiful dance performance depicting all the 17 SDGs and a mesmerising song ‘I Love SDGs’ was presented by the students. Ms. Bhavna V S introduced the SDGs, there objectives, vision, the program designed by the school and the road map and how it can be incorporated in all the teaching learning practices in the school.
Senior Vice Principal Shirly Rappai motivated the staff saying that it’s an opportunity to contribute for the wellbeing of the world and help our children become good citizen of the world.
Vice-Principal Radhika Rele, Rajesh Pillai, Administrative Manager Joseph K, HOD Music Department Marshal along with Sreelakshmi, John and students took special efforts to make this program a success. Betty Leone compared the program and Mohammed Nawas proposed vote of thanks.
