DOHA: A delegation from Qatar led by Major General Dr Abdullah Yusuf Al Maal, the adviser of the Minister of Interior, participated in the 8th session of the Conference of Parties to the United Nations Convention against Transnational Organized Crime being hosted by the Austria in Vienna from October 17 to 21.
Speaking at the high-level opening session yesterday, Al Maal stressed on the keenness of Qatar in achieving the objective of the Conference of the Parties, which is to improve the capacity of member states to combat transnational organised crime and promote the implementation of agreements and review them.
Maj. Gen. Abdullah Al Maal shed light on the Doha Declaration released at the 13th UN Congress on Criminal Justice and Crime Prevention last year, which reflected the efforts of the State of Qatar to address transnational organized crime and related crimes such as terrorism, and establish effective, equitable, humane and accountable criminal justice systems.
He also expressed his extreme happiness about the great efforts made by the member states in the implementation of the recommendations of the Doha Declaration, noting at the same time the ambitions of Doha to strengthen cooperation in prevention programmes and the fight against emerging crimes as well as corruption, drugs and terrorism.
