Doha: Qatar Satellite Company, ES’hailSat yesterday announced that it has accomplished 80% of the Qatar satellite, Es’hail 2 project.
The company said that Es’hail 2 satellite which is being manufactured by Japanese company will be launched in the third quarter of next year and will be positioned at 25.5 degrees East.
Es’hail 2 will strengthen the services provided by Es’hailSat and will make TV broadcast with high quality and high resolution for the entire region of Middle East and North Africa.
Sohail 1 was the first Qatari television and communications satellite, carried into orbit by the European rocket Ariane 5 from a base in French Guiana on 29 August 2013 and officially started to provide its services December 18 on Qatar National Day. The company yesterday signed up as joint sponsor, along with the Ministry of Education and Higher Education for the second edition of SANEA Competition launched by ibTechar for digital solutions.
The sponsorship of this competition is part of the company’s efforts to encourage innovative works and to enhance its social responsibility to help the youth develop their talents and creativity, said Hamad Al Mannai, executive director of the company for commercial affairs. The second edition of SANEA competition is being launched with participation of 10 secondary schools and will end in March next year.
Teachers of IT, science and maths in the participating schools will be trained to help students while they will be provided with equipment helping them to invent digital works. Winning students’ works at SANEA exhibition will be rewarded.
