Indian Embassy to mark International Day of Yoga on Tuesday

Doha: The Indian Embassy will celebrate the second International Day of Yoga on Tuesday at 9pm at Al Gharafa Sports Club Indoor Hall on Tuesday.
The programme, in cooperation with the Qatar government, Indian Cultural Centre and other community associations,  will include speeches by Qatari dignitaries and the Indian Ambassador, a short film and demonstrations by yoga experts.
All are invited. Dress is informal and in conformity with local customs. Attendees are requested to bring photo ID
During an official visit to Qatar on June 4 and 5, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi held talks with Emir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and both stressed that the overwhelming response to International Day of Yoga was a reflection of the global community’s keenness to come together to seek a balanced, healthier and sustainable future for the world.
Modi thanked Qatar for support to the First International Day of Yoga on June 21, 2015 through the issue of commemorative stamps by Qatar Post to mark the occasion.
Modi, in his address at the 69th Session of the United Nations General Assembly on September 27, 2014 had called upon the UN member states to work towards adopting an International Day of Yoga.
India’s Resolution at the General Assembly to declare June 21 June as International Day of Yoga was unanimously adopted on December 11, 2014, with a record co-sponsorship of 177 countries, including Qatar.
The Indian Embassy deeply appreciates the support and cooperation of all the concerned authorities in Qatar for the commemoration of the second International Day of Yoga, the mission said in a statement yesterday.
