Doha: The Friends of The Environment Center, affiliated with the Ministry of Sports and Youth, concluded its "Summer of Sustainability 2026" program after a month filled with knowledge, innovation, and practical experiences that contributed to instilling an environmental culture and promoting sustainability concepts among children and youth.
Ninety-three male and female students from various schools participated in the program, which included eight specialized workshops addressing a number of environmental and sustainability issues, in addition to six field visits that allowed participants to learn about practical experiences and national efforts in the field of environmental protection.
On this occasion, Executive Director of the Friends of the Environment Center, Dr. Farhoud Hadi Al Hajri affirmed that the "Summer of Sustainability 2026" program embodies the center's vision of investing in human capital as the cornerstone for achieving sustainable development.
He noted that the center was keen to offer a comprehensive summer experience that transcended the concept of traditional seasonal activities, transforming into an educational and developmental journey that contributes to building environmental awareness, cultivating a sense of responsibility among children and youth, and preparing them to be active partners in protecting the environment and preserving its natural resources.
Dr. Al Hajri added that the program was designed to give participants the opportunity to learn, discover, and experience through a combination of interactive workshops, field visits, scientific activities, and volunteer initiatives. This approach connects environmental concepts to daily practices and transforms knowledge into sustainable behavior that positively impacts society and the environment.
The center successfully expanded its partnerships with 21 governmental, national, and private entities, while 19 volunteers contributed to organizing and implementing the events. This reflects the program's success in establishing a culture of volunteerism and strengthening community partnerships in serving environmental causes.
At the conclusion of the ceremony, the Friends of the Environment Center honored the sponsors, strategic partners, volunteers, and participants in recognition of their active contributions to the program's success.
