Another accolade for Valley City

DOHA: Qatar’s leading real estate company SAK Holding Group’s prestigious project “Valley City” has won yet another international award for best design.  The “Valley City”, which won the high-profile French MIPIM ward for the ‘best future urban project’ last month, walked away with the ‘best design in urban planning and design category’, at the “A Design Awards & Competition”  held in Como, Italy,  on Monday. 

Qatar’s three other projects also won awards in different categories. The projects include “Qatar Navigation Tower”, “Al Dana Tower” and “West Bay Golden Tower”.

Sheikh Abdullah bin Thani Al Thani, SAK Holding Group executive committee member, received the award on behalf of the SAK. The ceremony was also attended by the Group’s CEO,  Hesham ElSahtari, and Chairman’s Advisor  Abdul Rahman Al-Najjar.

“Valley City” project was designed by renowned architect  Marwan Zugheib from MZ Architects — Lebanon, whose works has received many global accolades. 

The high-profile A’ Design Award & Competition is a unique, creative and productive exhibition in Europe, which showcases designs and products competing in 80 category. The competition attracts global designers, producers and companies representing many sectors from across the world.

Commenting on  the award-winning “Valley City”, the judges said they are proud to present the Best Urban Design Award to the innovative project. “The projects high-class engineering standards stem from creativity and the attractive local architecture. It also fulfills the residents basic and future needs and requirements, and adheres to top norms of quality, sustainability, health and safety adopted in execution distinguished future projects”, they noted. 

Sheikh Thani bin Abdullah Al Thani, the Chairman of SAK Holding Group announced that he dedicate the global award to the Emir and the Heir Apparent for their wise leadership under which the country is moving towards a promising future and unprecedented development.

Sheikh Thani added “Qatar’s real estate sector proved its capacity in innovation and creativity allowing it to go hand in hand with Qatar National Strategic Development Vision. It has demonstrated its strength and steadiness in confronting challenges brought by local and global changes, and to boost its presence inside and outside Qatar, acquiring many world renowned awards, beginning with “MIPIM” global award for Future Urban Development in Cannes, France in March, and now in Italy…… We will continue our success journey and make all efforts to entrench the country’s position in real estate industry in the region and across the world.”

Sustainability is the underlying design concept of “Valley City” project, he added.

Marwan, the architect of the award-winning project, said he was inspired by the unique characteristics of Qatar’s environment. He said the design was a path-breaking one and did not resort to the existing global trend in designing future cities that are completely reliant on modern technology.
