Doha, Qatar: Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Qatar, H E Roshan Sithara Khan Azard, in a message extended warm congratulations to Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, and the people of Qatar on the occasion of Qatar National Day, celebrated on December 18.
“On behalf of the Government and people of Sri Lanka, it is a great honour and privilege to extend our warmest congratulations and sincere felicitations to the Amir and the people of Qatar on this significant national occasion,” the Ambassador said.
She noted that Qatar National Day commemorates the country’s rich heritage and visionary leadership, which have guided the nation’s remarkable progress.
“Qatar’s impressive journey of transformation, guided by unity, resilience and foresight, stands as an inspiring example to the world,” she said, adding that the country’s commitment to peace, development and regional harmony continues to serve as a source of inspiration.
Ambassador Azard highlighted the strong bonds of friendship between Sri Lanka and Qatar continue to grow, supported by our shared values and close cooperation. The robust and enduring bonds between our two countries have been further enriched by shared aspirations for peace, prosperity and mutual respect,” she stated.
She also expressed appreciation for Qatar’s solidarity with Sri Lanka following Cyclone Ditwah lastw month.
“The expression of solidarity by Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and Deputy Amir H H Sheikh Abdullah bin Hamad Al Thani brought comfort and hope to the affected people and communities in Sri Lanka,” the Ambassador said, commending Qatar’s timely relief assistance.
Marking the occasion, Ambassador Azard reaffirmed Sri Lanka’s commitment to strengthening bilateral ties. “On this special day, we celebrate not only Qatar’s achievements but also the spirit of friendship and partnership that binds our peoples.
Sri Lanka looks forward to further enhancing our bilateral relations and exploring new avenues of cooperation for the mutual benefit of our countries,” she said.
Concluding her message, the Ambassador conveyed best wishes for Qatar’s continued success. “May the State of Qatar continue to flourish in peace, progress and prosperity,” she added.
