DOHA: The Emir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani has confirmed his patronage for the 7th International Petroleum Technology Conference (IPTC), to be held at the Qatar National Convention Centre from January 19 to 22.
The Emir’s patronage confirms the importance of the event in the region’s oil and gas meetings calendar, a press release said yesterday.

As one of the world’s leading energy producers, Qatar is taking a leadership role in tackling the industry’s most pressing issues - from responsible energy development to social advancement.
The 7th IPTC will feature a 7,500sqm exhibition area, a nine-stream conference, 67 technical sessions, and is expected to draw about 7,000 visitors and delegates including regional oil ministers, industry leaders and government representatives as well as industry practitioners.
“From four years ago when Doha last hosted IPTC, the industry landscape has changed significantly, with a steep increase in energy demand, as well as discoveries of new oil and gas reserves, said Waleed Refaay, IPTC Project Director.
With the theme, “Unlocking Energy through Innovation, Technology and Capability”, the 7th IPTC in Doha will be hosted by Qatar Petroleum and co-hosted by ExxonMobil.
“This event comes at an important time in our industry, as increasing populations, new technologies, and economic opportunities continue to drive global energy demand, said Dato Mohamad Idris Mansor, Director, Petronas and Chairman of IPTC Board of Directors.
The 7th IPTC in Doha brings together world-class leaders and innovators from across the industry, providing an excellent opportunity for participants to discuss exploration and technology initiatives, share best practices in safety and environmental issues, and build the relationships that will enable the world to meet the energy challenges of the future.
The conference programme will focus on the dissemination of new and current technology and best practices in the various oil and gas disciplines, and is designed to emphasise the importance of the value chain and maximising asset value.
