Doha, Qatar: Al Jazeera Media Network has announced the launch of its new service, “Al Jazeera 2,” aimed at delivering broader and more in-depth coverage of pressing regional and global issues.
The new service, introduced yesterday by Al Jazeera Arabic, dedicates seven hours of daily programming to exploring key topics, spanning developments in Palestine, Sudan, Syria, and other major files shaping the current geopolitical landscape. “Al Jazeera 2” is designed as a significant platform to enhance the network’s programming output, offering extended space for news bulletins and analytical shows that deepen editorial coverage and provide richer context for audiences.
Director of Al Jazeera Arabic, Asef Hamidi, said the launch reflects an editorial response to the evolving situation in the region. He noted that the service aims to allocate dedicated airtime for news and programmes focusing on the most impactful and widely followed issues.
Hamidi said the initiative aligns with Al Jazeera’s ongoing efforts to develop its media tools and adapt its platforms to reach wider audiences.
