Vienna : Three people were killed and another missing in the state of Salzburg, west of the Austrian capital, Vienna, due to snowstorms.

Austrian security sources said on Sunday that the storms also caused the closure of 38 schools, in addition to the power outages of 50 houses in the same state.

According to the sources, five thousand people, including 2,000 tourists in the state of Salzburg, became isolated from the outside world because of the heavy snow accumulation in the region, noting that 800 firefighters removed large amounts of snow accumulated on the buildings.

On Saturday, the Austrian army deployed 900 additional troops in six states to help in the rescue and snow removal operations.
