Doha, Qatar: Britain’s Scott Brash grabbed the spotlight at Al Shaqab yesterday, capping H H The Father Amir’s Prix Tour 2 with a famous double by clinching both the CSI5* 1.60m Grand Prix Jump-Off and the CSI3* 1.50m Jump-Off Grand Prix titles.

Brash and his gelding Hello Jefferson showed lightning speed in the tough 1.60m jump-off, clocking the best time of 42.66 seconds.

They edged out France’s Megane Moissonnier, who aboard Crooner Tame finished fractions of a second behind with a time of 42.78 seconds and had to settle for second place.

USA’s Eve Jobs secured third place with Canto Bruno in 43.42 seconds.

Brash praised Hello Jefferson after the victory.

“He is an incredible horse. He is 17 years old but he feels like a young horse. He loves jumping and he has always loved jumping in Doha,” said the British rider.

“The facilities are so good for the horses. The arena is fantastic and the schedules are also very good. It’s a complete package here,” he added while lauding the organisation of the event.

Earlier, Brash and Hello Chadora Lady delivered an outstanding performance to win the CSI3* 1.50m Jump-Off Grand Prix, posting a flawless time of 32.34 seconds. Belgium’s Abdel Said, aboard the gelding Wathnan Calvaro, finished the jump-off in 33.49 seconds to take second place, while Germany’s Janne F Meyer-Zimmermann secured third place after registering 33.74 seconds on mare Iron Dames High Level.

The CSI5* 1.50m Special Two-Phase title went to Harry Charles, who finished the decisive round in 35.10 seconds with Bandit.

It was a Britain one-two as Millie Allen on Quick Diamant HR placed second with a time of 35.41 seconds, while Italy’s Roberto Previtali, astride I’M Special Mess PS, took third place in 36.16 seconds.

Italy’s Emanuele Gaudiano won the CSI3* 1.40m Accumulator with a clear round in 46.13 seconds. Turkiye’s Hasan Senturk, in partnership with Elzas, posted 46.79 seconds to finish runner-up, while Saudi Arabia’s Khalid Al Hadi on Capoen secured third place with a time of 48.34 seconds.

At the Second Outdoor Arena, France’s Jean Francois Rondoux, riding the 13-year-old stallion Inter-Larus, topped the CSI3* 1.30m Faults & Time by clocking 69.13 seconds. Qatar’s Ghanim Nasser Al Qadi earned second place on mare Mukaynis in 70.71 seconds, while Saudi rider Mohammed Alasaker was third with a time of 70.71 seconds aboard gelding Tinto de Nuit Z.

In the National Competition 1.00m Special Two-Phase at the same venue, Mariam Abdulkarim Sabri on Baina, Afraa Abdulrahman Al Sulaiti aboard Molga, and Salman Faisal Al Marri partnering Goteborg Handyman secured the first three places respectively.
