Geneva: Qatar participated in the 68th Assemblies of the Member States of the World Intellectual Property Organization, held in Geneva.

Saleh Abdullah Al Mannai, Assistant Undersecretary for Commerce at the Ministry of Commerce and Industry and head of Qatar's delegation, said in a statement that the country remains committed to further developing its intellectual property system in cooperation with WIPO.

He said this effort is intended to promote innovation and creativity, support the effective use of artificial intelligence technologies, and contribute to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals. He also praised WIPO's central role in strengthening a balanced and effective international intellectual property system that serves the interests of its member states.

Al Mannai noted that cooperation between Qatar and WIPO is aligned with the objectives of the Qatar National Vision 2030 and supports the country's efforts to build a knowledge-based economy by fostering an environment that encourages innovation and investment in intellectual assets.

He also highlighted the importance of the technical and advisory support provided by WIPO in developing Qatar's national intellectual property strategy, which the Ministry of Commerce and Industry is currently preparing, as well as in enhancing the country's institutional intellectual property framework in line with international best practices and standards.

On the sidelines of the assembly, the Qatari delegation held several bilateral meetings with delegations from member states and representatives of international intellectual property offices.
The discussions focused on strengthening cooperation, exchanging expertise across various areas of intellectual property, and exploring opportunities for partnership in support of mutual interests.
