DOHA: The Ministry of Economy and Commerce has shut down a beauty centre in a resort in Ras Abu Aboud for one month over display and use of expired products.
The ministry acted against the facility following an inspection campaign carried out by its Department of Consumer Protection and Anti-Commercial Fraud.
Inspectors fined the beauty centre and ordered it closed in line with provisions of Law No 8/2008. The law stipulates that suppliers of goods must clearly display on product labels a clear description of goods and their ingredients and refrain from posting any misleading or false statements.
The ministry’s efforts seek to offset price manipulation and expose violations pertaining to counterfeit goods and non-conformance with standards and specifications.
The administrative closure is published on the ministry’s website and two newspapers at the centre’s expense in line with Article 3 of the law on consumer protection.
The ministry said it will refer violators of laws and ministerial decrees to authorities for legal action.
It urged consumers to report any violation to the department concerned and send complaints and suggestions through the ministry’s communication channels. The Peninsula
