Doha: Minister of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs H E Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulaziz bin Saleh Al Khulaifi received yesterday two phone calls from Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Republic of Mali H E Abdoulaye Diop and Minister of Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation of the United Republic of Tanzania H E Mahmoud Thabit Kombo.

The two calls discussed the developments of the military escalation in the region and its serious repercussions on regional and international security and stability, along with ways to resolve all disputes by peaceful means.

The Minister of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reiterated Qatar’s condemnation of the Iranian attacks on its territory, saying that they cannot be accepted under any pretext or justification.

He pointed out in this context that the State of Qatar has always been keen to distance itself from regional conflicts and has sought to facilitate dialogue between the Iranian side and the international community.

He stressed the need for an immediate halt to any escalatory actions, a return to the negotiating table, prioritizing reason and wisdom, and working to contain the crisis in a way that preserves the security of the region.

On their part, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Republic of Mali and the Minister of Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation of the United Republic of Tanzania urged for de-escalation, reason to prevail, and a return to negotiations and diplomatic means to avoid further chaos.  Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulaziz bin Saleh Al Khulaifi also received a phone call from International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Director General H E Rafael Mariano Grossi.
