Doha: Mandarin Oriental, Doha has announced the re-launch of Liang restaurant. 

Located adjacent to Mandarin Oriental, Doha in Barahat Msheireb at the heart of Msheireb Downtown, the exciting restaurant showcases authentic Cantonese recipes and select traditional provincial dishes from across China.

The restaurant’s name, Liang, means “the beam of light reflected by the moon” in Chinese. 

Emphasising the moon as an iconic symbol in both Qatari and Chinese cultures, the restaurant’s name aims to celebrate this connection. Liang is decorated with atmospheric art and antiques from across China, including amorous elements such as poems about the moon.

Executive Chef Lam brings his expertise to elevate Liang as a unique Chinese cuisine experience offering unparalleled authenticity. 

Dishes are ideal for sharing amongst friends gathering to share classic Dim Sum along with advanced wok cooking techniques that highlight the flavours of the fresh ingredients used.

The delightful menu showcases authentic Cantonese recipes and innovative creations for lunch and dinner. Guests can enjoy specialties starting with the Hot and Sour Soup and then share a variety of signature dishes including Wagyu Beef Short Ribs, Kung Pao Tiger Prawns and Wok-fried Spicy Chicken.

Then there’s the traditional preparation of the exceptional Peking Duck, a roasted whole duck presented to the diners and served with steamed Peking-style pancakes – surely a unique treat in the region. 

To end on a sweet note, guests can delight to a selection of treats including the chef’s signature Deep-fried Ice Cream.

As part of the authentic journey of Liang, guests can enjoy witnessing the famous traditional tea performance. 

The certified tea master leads the tea performance using a long-spouted teapot combined with rare authentic Chinese arts of sequenced choreography and martial arts, much to the delight of the audience.

To create the most authentic Chinese restaurant in Doha, Mandarin Oriental, Doha has partnered with Maxim’s Caterers Ltd in Hong Kong. Maxim’s Group is known for leading the Chinese cuisine scene and has been awarded a Michelin star. 

Delegated by Maxim’s Group, Executive Chef Lam masterfully created each recipe according to the Maxim Group’s standards of Chinese cuisine excellence.
