Health centre for workers opens; reception can receive 300 visitors a day

Health centre reception can receive 300 visitors

 

DOHA: The newly-opened workers-only health centre in Mesaimeer has the capacity of up to 32,000 visitors a month.
The facility is attached with a Medical Commission unit that can do mandatory health check-up for a maximum 11,000 expatriate workers every month.
Minister of Public Health H E Dr Hanan Mohamed Al Kuwari opened the Mesaimeer Labour Health Centre and the attached Medical Commission Unit on Thursday in the presence of senior officials from the ministry and Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS).
This is the second health centre set up by the ministry for expatriate single male workers and is run by QRCS, under an agreement with the ministry.
In his inaugural address, the Minister said Qatar is keen to provide the best treatment and preventive health care services for its entire population and workers are provided with healthcare services of a high standard.
He said the centre is one of the ministry’s many healthcare projects intended for workers, including four health centres, three modern hospitals for workers and more Medical Commission units.
The centre comprises 12 general clinics, specialised clinics in the fields of occupational medicine, internal medicine, ophthalmology, ENT (ear, nose, and throat), chronic diseases, dermatology, cardiac diseases, lung diseases, and five dental clinics.
There are laboratories for vital and chemical analyses, blood and microscopic analyses, and a radiology section, a pharmacy, mental health services, health education services, and infectious and communicable diseases control section.

The centre’s reception has a capacity of 300 visitors a day. It includes a lecture hall and administrative offices.
It also includes a bandaging and minor surgery room, and acute cases section with 12 beds.
The centre is built on a 13,382 square meters area and includes a mosque, staff accommodation and a cafeteria.
It has employed 135 people, 80 percent of whom are medical professionals.
The Medical Commission unit includes a laboratory, a radiology section, a reception hall with a capacity of 200 visitors, and administrative offices.
It has employed 60 staff, 80 percent of whom are medical professionals.
