Doha: The Qatar Press Centre has strongly condemned what it described as ongoing Iranian attacks against the State of Qatar, denouncing them as a dangerous escalation and a blatant violation of international laws and norms, as well as an unacceptable infringement on national sovereignty and security.
In a statement issued yesterday, the Centre referred to an announcement by the Qatar Ministry of Defence confirming that Qatar was targeted earlier in the day by an attack involving a number of drones and two cruise missiles. The statement noted that the Qatari Armed Forces successfully intercepted and neutralised the attack with high efficiency.
The Centre emphasised that such repeated and unjustified acts constitute a serious breach of Qatar’s sovereignty and a direct threat to its territorial integrity and national security. It warned that the escalation poses significant risks to regional and international peace and stability, potentially leading to grave consequences for the wider region.
The Qatar Press Centre praised the high level of readiness and vigilance demonstrated by the armed forces, commending their professionalism, courage, and dedication in carrying out their national duty to safeguard the country and protect its resources.
It also expressed appreciation for the efforts of the Qatar Ministry of Interior in maintaining security and stability, as well as its firm response to rumours and misinformation. The Centre highlighted the Ministry’s responsible and professional approach in preserving public awareness and reinforcing a sense of reassurance within society.
The Centre concluded by underscoring the critical role of responsible and professional media as a first line of defence in protecting the home front, strengthening trust in national institutions, and raising public awareness in the face of challenges, ultimately supporting unity and social cohesion.
