Doha: The UAE film, Going To Heaven, was screened as part of the Khaleeji Stories series organised by Doha Film Institute at Museum of Islamic Art.
Hekayat Khaleejiya, which translates to ‘Stories from the Gulf’, is a quarterly screening series dedicated to showcasing cinematic voices from the Gulf.
Taking place at the museum, the series presents films accompanied by question-and-answer sessions with filmmakers to gain insight into their works and process.
The 90-minute feature narrative revolves around the events in the life of 11-year-old Sultan.
 


Seeking to return to the arms and the tenderness of his long-lost grandmother, Sultan embarks with a friend on a crazy journey from Abu Dhabi to Fujairah via Dubai.
Film director and screenwriter Saeed Salmeen Al Murry graduated from New York Film Academy in Abu Dhabi.
He won awards for his short film Huboob (2006) at the Emirates Film Competition (EFC) and the Dubai International Film Festival, and continued this success with another short film Al Ghobna (2007), which won award at the EFC and was screened at Dubai.
His first feature film, Sun Dress (2010), was screened at the Abu Dhabi Film Festival and won the Special Jury Award in the Muscat International Film Festival.
Going To Heaven stars Jumaa Ibrahim Al Zaabi, Ahmed Ibrahim Al Zaabi, Fatima Al Taei, Mariam Sultan, and Abdullah Masood.
