The students & the staff of Pakistan International School were left in deep pain and mourning following the sad news of the passing of school’s founder, Lt. Gen. (R) Muhammad Jahan Zeb Arbab. He breathed his last on January 29, 2020. Late Jahanzeb Arbab was the former ambassador of Pakistan to Qatar from 1980 to 1986.
He was the one who catalysed the process of acquiring land for the school in 1980 and played a key role in its establishment in 1985. Being stirred with profound empathy for his fellow citizens and passion for education, this forward thinking man laid the foundation of an institution that could cater to the educational needs of the Pakistanis living in Qatar.  From then onwards, this school has withstood the test of time and has churned out thousands of successful students now serving their families and their country in various capacities as professionals.
Following the instructions of school’s Principal, Nargis Raza Otho, a grand morning assembly of the whole school was conducted to express heartfelt condolences on the sad demise of the revered founder of PISQ.
“Today, we are all deeply saddened and heart broken by the news of the death of Jahanzeb Arbab. His name shall forever survive through this school and he will live eternally through the success and services of the students passing out from this prestigious institution. We all stand in complete harmony with the bereaved family and sincerely pray for the exalted station of the deceased in Jannat in the Hereafter,” said the Principal while expressing her deep grief.
Later, Afshan Shahid, Vice Principal Senior Girls’ Wing paid a befitting homage to the services of Late Jahanzeb Arbab by recounting vast array of his astounding feats for Pakistani community in Qatar.
She particularly highlighted the challenges and obstacles late Jahanzeb Arbab had to confront in the establishing of this esteemed institution. She expressed her deep mourning at the sad loss of the benefactor of Pakistani community.
The grand morning assembly concluded with especial prayers and ‘Fateha’ offered for the soul of the departed.
