A two-day workshop to train employees working with local and international humanitarian organisations kicked off at Torch Hotel yesterday.
The workshop, entitled “Towards Building Better Humanitarian Response, is being organised by Sheikh Thani bin Abdullah Foundation for Humanitarian Services (RAF) in collaboration with the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and International Association of Medical Regulatory Authorities (IAMRA). Thirty officials working in the field of humanitarian aid from 15 organizations operating in Qatar and other countries across the world are participating to get the training for improving their performances.
“RAF has implemented thousands of projects for humanitarian and development in more than 100 countries worldwide," Dr Ayed bin Dabssan Al Qahtani, Chairman, Board of Trustees, and General Director, RAF, said in his opening speech.
“The workshop is being organised in Qatar for the first time. RAF’s training centre was established to provide training for people working with local and international humanitarian organisations as a social responsibility. This workshop is part of RAF’s ambitious project to support and improve the response of humanitarian organisations," said Al Qahtani.
It is a praiseworthy initiative to train the employees of charity and humanitarian organizations, said Sad bin Mohamad Al Mahmoud, Head of Monitoring and Supervising Department at Regulatory Authority for Charitable Activities.  RAF is not only training its employees but called other organizations to participate, he added.
