DOHA: The US Ambassador to Qatar, Susan L Ziadeh, welcomed a trade mission featuring 13 American companies representing a wide range of sectors including technology, infrastructure and communications, a press statement said yesterday.
The trade mission, led by the ‘Bilateral US-Arab Chamber of Commerce’ and the ‘US-Qatar Business Council’, connected American business leaders with Qatari government and commercial leadership to explore trade and investment partnerships for the 2022 FIFA World Cup and the realisation of the 2030 Qatar National Vision.
“Qatar’s rising international prominence is bringing about new and exciting partnership opportunities for American companies. Trade missions offer an invaluable opportunity for top-tier US companies to meet face-to-face with potential partners, laying the foundation for long-lasting, high-quality business relationships.” Ambassador Ziadeh said.
Aida Araissi, President of the Bilateral US-Arab Chamber of Commerce, echoed the ambassador’s sentiments. “This delegation marks our 18th trade mission to Qatar over the last 12 years,” she stated. “Hundreds of business transactions and partnerships have been forged over the years but only if there is immediate follow up. We’re really pleased with the diverse group we have and are hopeful their time in Doha will lead to mutually beneficial alliances.”
Ambassador Patrick Theros, President of the US-Qatar Business Council and former Ambassador to Qatar, expressed his thanks to Ziadeh for her continued enthusiastic support for US business and welcomed his Qatari friends to engage with the visiting trade mission members, all of whom had unique products and services of value to Qatar’s programs.
Ziadeh and Araissi both expressed confidence that the trade mission will deepen the vital economic relationship between the United States and Qatar, and generate economic growth and high quality investment for both countries.
US-Qatari commercial ties have expanded at a rapid pace over the last seven years, with trade volumes growing from $738m in 2003 to $4.6bn in 2012. This visit underscores the US-Qatari commitment to shared trade growth and to economic cooperation in US markets that meet Qatar’s demand for specialized, first-rate goods and services.
